Here in the U.S. we have seperate oral surgery offices from the regular dentist, but most of the professionals have a DDS degree, so why are they a seperate practice from a dentist?

An oral surgeon goes through dental school to obtain his DDS degree but then takes post graduate residency training for 3 years to specialize in his field. He will end up doing no fillings, cosmetic dentistry, braces, and treating gum disease. He will limit his practice to surgical procedures of the mouth and facial area.

The call to action is the most important part of your presentation. This is where your audience understands exactly what you want them to do. It’s where you define yourself as a persuader instead of a presenter. This conclusion should not come as a shock to your audience. Throughout your presentation, you should have gently led them to the same conclusion that you are now giving them. You should have already prompted them to want to do what you are about to tell them to do.

Some people hate this part of persuasion because they are asking their prospects to do something. This should really be the best part–the action is the only reason you are giving the presentation in the first place; your audience is going to understand that. If you become tense and uneasy, so will your prospect. The whole presentation should be structured to make the call to action smooth and seamless. In fact, the prospect should not even see or feel your call to action coming.

You should prepare your audience for this conclusion before you even start on the rest of the presentation. Your entire presentation should be built around the call to action. I mean, write out the call to action word for word beforehand. From the outset of your message, you must be eager to get to this point. Be positive and enthusiastic. In your preparation, make sure your conclusion is explicit and that the audience is not left on their own to make sense of and understand your message. You need to tell them what to believe; you draw the conclusion for them. Make the call to action easy for them to follow and simple for them to do. There should be no doubt in your prospects’ minds about exactly what you want them to do. Act with authority. You are the expert — demonstrate your expertise. Strive for the teacher/pupil relationship

What is Pericoronitis?

Pericoronitis is an inflammation of the gum tissues that cover the chewing surface of molars that have not fully come into the mouth. It most often occurs with the wisdom teeth, most commonly the lower wisdom teeth.

What Causes Pericoronitis?

The most common cause of pericoronitis is food, bacteria, or plaque trapped beneath the gum flap. Here’s how it happens. In some cases, the condition can be made worse when the upper molar comes through fully before the lower one. If the lower gum flap is inflamed and swollen with pericoronitis, the upper tooth may bite down on the lower gum flap, causing additional irritation and swelling.

Treatment

It’s important to treat pericoronitis, not only because it’s painful, but because treatment can prevent a more serious infection from spreading to the neck and cheeks. First, your dentist need to make sure that pericoronitis is what’s causing your discomfort. To do that, your dentist will perform a thorough examination. The exam may include probing the gum around the affected tooth and taking x-rays.
If your dentist find pericoronitis, he or she will treat it by thoroughly removing plaque and bacteria from the affected tooth and rinsing around and under the gum flap. To prevent pericoronitis from reoccurring, your dentist may, depending on the circumstances, surgically remove or reshape the gum around the tooth or extract the tooth.

Your dentist will also advise you about taking care of the area at home. Homecare may include rinsing your mouth with warm salt water (about 1 Tbs. salt per glass of warm water) or an antimicrobial mouthwash. Your dentist may also suggest that you use an oral irrigator to soothe the area and help keep the area bacteria-free. In some cases, your dentist may also prescribe antibiotics.

Pericoronitis is painful and can lead to more serious problems, but be assured that it can be treated and your pain-free smile restored.

it depends on a whole lot of things.
for example, when a cavity is very very close to the pulp, your dentist might suggest a root canal instead of a filling. on an xray, the cavities are shown as a slightly darker part on the tooth, and the pulp is the dark shade inside the tooth
