how to manage caries in a patient with ventricular septal defect?
Published: August 21st, 2009
Routine pre-operative antibiotics per AHA recommendations. The patient is probably a child, so use weight-adjusted dosage. Consult with the cardiologist in areas of doubt.

Get the teeth restored, get regular dental cleanings 2-3 times a year, brush twice daily and floss daily. A fluoride rinse, like ACT, should be used once or twice daily after brushing the teeth and no eating or drinking or smoking for a half hour afterwards.
Stop drinking soda pop of any kind, increase the water intake and ease up on sugary sweets would help as well.
