What is the scientific definition and a brief description of dental caries?
Help w/ 102 homework!
Thank You!
Dental caries, also known as tooth decay or cavity, is a disease wherein bacterial processes damage hard tooth structure (enamel, dentin and cementum). These tissues progressively break down, producing dental cavities (holes in the teeth). Two groups of bacteria are responsible for initiating caries: Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacilli. If left untreated, the disease can lead to pain, tooth loss, infection, and, in severe cases, death. Today, caries remains one of the most common diseases throughout the world.

I have a dentist appointment in the morning, and am so scared that I know I will be up all night just thinking about it.
This happens every time I need to go to the dentist and I don’t know what to do about it. Please no rude answers– this is a real question/concern that is really impacting my life.
I feel your pain. Really there’s not much you can do about the night before… make sure you’re good and tired, maybe take a sleeping pill. work on relaxation techniques, or distract yourself with TV or a movie until you can fall asleep. And I always book an AM appointment so I don’t have to try to eat beforehand and worst case, can just go home and take a nap afterwards.
If you’re anxious In the actual chair it has helped me to wear a ring on my finger I can concentrate on playing with while the hygienist is doing their thing. And try to avoid any of the sickly sweet types of fluoride… stick to mint! And try to remember you get through one visit you don’t have to go back for another whole year

Using ANY file sharing program puts you at high risk of not only viruses, but spyware and unwanted scripts as well. Finding nothing on a virus scan alone does guarentee a "clean" file.

I mean if your going private or on the NHS, i assumed low quality dentures are cheaper but i heard now all dentures are same price, is this true?
I should imagine that for something as important as dentures, it would be false economy to go for something cheap. You need them to be made perfectly tailored for your mouth and if they are not comfortable and adjusted specifically you will be in pain, you will be unable to speak properly as your tongue has to get used to its new position in your mouth, and you might have difficulties in eating. Dentures like anything else you buy vary considerably in price: remember labour costs are involved so if you go to top dentist in, say London, they are bound to be more expensive than if you go to an NHS dentist or a dentist out of town. If you need dentures and do not yet have a dentist, ring around a few, or look on the internet, there’s bound to be a wealth of information out there on prices etc.

Although no one has complained, I feel I have bad breath. I always have a bad taste in my mouth especially a while after I brush my teeth even! When I wake up in the morning is when I feel it the worst. (Or is it Worse?..lol) anyway, save yourself the “clean your teeth” speech. I do brush at least twice a day but religiously before I go to bed and after I wake up. What is it? What other remedies are there? I am tired of chewing gum 24/7.. I have not tried the tongue cleaning tools. I don’t want to eat lemon. My teeth are bad enough. Any home remedies? Anything I am not aware of? Surprise me! I’ve done it all. What is next? gargle Ajax? HELP
A few seeds of cardamom chewed for a brief while will clear your mouth of bad breath. Chew parsley leaves, which are sure to keep your breath fresh. More useful remedies at http://useinfo5.blogspot.com/

I’m interesting in whitening my teeth a shade or so, and I can’t afford to get it done by the dentist. I wanted to know what is the best whitening kit to buy. Please only recommend if you have tried it or some one you know personally has tried. Thanks!
If you are really looking for teeth whitening, normal toothpaste probably isn’t enough just by itself.
I suggest doing what this mom did,

No, it does not. In fact the mechanical motion of brushing will help loosen plaque and lower the risk of dental caries. (Use fluoridated toothpaste!) You should brush at least twice a day and after every meal.

Formerly, I am a grade 12 student in canada seeking to become a dentist. I do not possess knowledge of the time it takes to finish collgege and finsh studies in order to befit a dentist in public health or general dentistry. Could i know the least amount of years it takes, please?
You have to do 4 yrs of undergrad study and take all the required subjects. Usually all the major universities have a "pre-dent" bachelor program which gets you everything.
Some dental schools also accept an associate degree (2 yrs). Check with the schools that you plan to apply to.
After that its 4 years of dental school. So normally 4 yrs of undergrad + 4 yrs of dental school = dentist
You’re looking at minimum 6 to 8yrs of studying.
That’s all the studying you need to become a general dentist. If you plan to specialize then it depends on your chosen specialty.
Hope that was helpful.

Can my six year old daughter avoid having a filling in her molar which has a dental cavity?
No. Homeopathic remedies won’t help this problem because they won’t help any problem. Homeopathy is pure quackery of the most ridiculous kind. Listen to your dentist.
