What is the dentist likely to do for the big hole in my upper tooth?

By: admin
Published: April 25th, 2009

An upper tooth has a huge hole, or for better word, cave.
What is the dentist likely to offer as a remedy ?
Would it be a filling or a veneer? And how can I make sure not to let them put amalgam, nor the toxic plastic, but whichever one is safe filling?

They will fill it. I assume this is a molar and not a front tooth…? If molar then yes, fill it. If it is a tooth in the front, they could bond it or put a veneer on it. Keep in mind that fillings are covered by insurance but veneers are NOT!

What should be the cost of pulling 21 teeth and installing dentures?

By: admin
Published: April 25th, 2009

My wife has trouble with her teeth and does not have a good bite as it were. She has had poor history with regards to crowns, 4 of them having to be pulled shortly after installation. She has two teeth that have recently chipped. The dentist says we need to get dentures either with implants or without to support them. She has 21 teeth and one dentist says to install crowns and partials. But he is not realizing that crowns don't work on my wife. So we have a situation that crowns don't work on. What price have you seen for removal of 21 teeth and installation of upper and lower dentures?

What causes frequent bad breath & how can you prevent it?

By: admin
Published: April 25th, 2009

Please help….My daughter brushes several times a day and has had her braces off for about 6 months and has beautiful straight white teeth, but she always has bad breath? What causes it & how can you prevent it?

According to the Dental School in New York 80 to 90 percent of bad breath is caused by bacteria that grow on the top of the tongue and produce sulfur containing compounds that stink. Good oral hygiene is to brush and floss the teeth and then clean the top of the tongue with a good tongue cleaner. OraBrush is very good because it has both a brush and a scraper to reach down into the deep indentations of the tongue and remove the bacteria. What is the Best teeth whitening product?

By: admin
Published: April 25th, 2009

I've never used any teeth whitening products and I'd like to remove some stains from my teeth. So which one/ones works the best? A d does the white eventually fade back to the same color your tooth was before to where you'd have to whiten them again? If so, how long does the white usually last before it starts to fade?

A super easy quick way to see a difference in your teeth color is using this cheap home recipe with items you have at home.
- Brush your teeth well before you do this.
- Get a Dixie cup and dump in a teaspoon of baking soda
- Next take a cap full (lid) of hydrogen peroxide.
-Mix them together with a normal tooth brush.
- Dab teeth with the mixture or areas you want brighten.
- After you do that for all your teeth, spit out and rinse with water.
- I take a wet wash cloth and clean my teeth.
- THen brush your teeth to get the taste out, drink plenty of water.

This a very quick simple way to brighten your smile. Never do this treatment more than like once a week or a couple times a month bc it can hurt your enamels and gums. If you see that your gums turn white after you finish, its normal just clean with a wash cloth also it just means the peroxide is killing germs. :)

Is the dental caries infictious ?

By: admin

Is it infictious ? can it be transmited from tooth to the antagonist

Dental caries is infectious to the other teeth because of the bacteria. Usually, teeth beside the one with caries get infected too if left untreated. For the antagonist to be affected, a check in your manner of brushing might be in order. you might not be cleaning the area properly and that may cause dental cavity on the antagonist tooth.

How much is spent yearly on dentist fluoride treatments?

By: admin
Published: April 17th, 2009

Insurance companies cover fluoride treatments at dentists' offices, usually without question. Fluoride treatments are only recommended for people at high risk of tooth decay. 80% of all tooth decay occurs in 20% of the population, mostly lower-income Americans who never actually see a dentist. So, I wonder how many unnecessary fluoride treatments are bought and paid for by insurance companies and individuals?

My question: What is the total cost of all the fluoride treatments administered in the United States, paid by insurance, government programs and/or individuals?

fluoride treatments are not that costly, and very few individuals would not benefit from one. Especially lower income uninformed people. So if there is one treatment the insurance or state will provide it is a drop in a deep pit but its a step up for those who need it. Why do you think toothpaste has fluoride,it strengthens teeth it penetrates to protect from starting decay and also keeps the growth and spreading down. Fluoride is one of the most inexpensive and effective ways to lessen decay and lesions in undeveloped populations. Fluoride is not a misused treatment its a beneficial one we can all use without question

Where can I find Lactobacillus Anti-Caries bacteria?

By: admin
Published: April 17th, 2009

I have to use this type of bacteria for a science experiment. I know that you can find this type of bacteria in yogurt and buttermilk, but I need to have this bacteria by itself, with no other bacteria or living organisms in the source. Please list your source. Please help; my grade depends on finding this out!
How will I know what type of bacteria is the one I want?

I'm not sure how much time you have for this experiment, but pure bacterial cultures are available commercially from many different companies. Some include Presque Isle Cultures, American Type Culture Collection, and Remel. You can purchase the bacteria of your choice (usually for a pretty low price, especially if it's for educational purposes) and they'll ship it to you in 2-3 business days. All of these companies have websites (just Google them) and you can pay online or by phone with a credit card.

Otherwise, I'm not sure how you could achieve a pure culture. Trying to isolate that particular Lactobacillus from yogurt or buttermilk would pretty much be impossible because so many other species are there too.

Hope this helps some!

How can I keep from gagging when using dentures?

By: admin
Published: April 17th, 2009

After having my dentures in my mouth for a few minutes I start gagging and then I take them out.I had the relined and that did not help.

Believe me, I know what you are talking about! Do you have a full set of dentures? I do, and yes, I had a very big problem with gagging. I think my problem was that it felt like the top dentures went too far down the back of my throat and that's why I was gagging. It feels like this because they are thicker than your normal mouth and throat was. Your dentist may be able to trim down the thickness of the denture. Mine did and it helped a lot! The longer I wore my dentures, the easier it got. I had a bigger problem with eating. It felt like I couldn't chew my food very well. Do NOT take them out because you are having problems. This is the worse thing you can do, because you will never get used to them. Be sure to keep them in your mouth 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Now, since I have had my dentures for a couple of years, I have no problems. I think it will get better the longer you wear them. Best of luck and keep on smiling!!!

I brush my teeth 3 times a day and I don't have a breath problem or anything, but If I got close to a girl and she had this problem it would be a total turn off….What is the best way to tell if you are having bad breath?

Lick the back of ur hand, let it dry and then smell it. As far as getting rid of bad breath try milk or sugarfree gum!!!
